50th Reunion Thank You Letters

Skip down to the New Notes

From Coach Whitaker...

Dear Don,

Just a note to express my appreciation to the CW Class of '63 for the invitation to attend your 50th Class Reunion. The committee did an excellent job. It was obvious that Barb Fennell Davis was an exceptionally hard worker for your class. I was touched by the special effort many members of your class of '63 made to stop by our table and say hello. Also, it was nice to visit with fellow staff members Stan Blum, Jim Eby and their spouses. I confer with the assessment of many that CW was a wonderful school in its day and that your class is an important part of the fine CW legacy. Lastly, your Class of '63 "hit it out of the park" by inviting your classmate Dick McCoppin to make his excellent Reunion presentation. My recollection of Dick was as a somewhat quiet, if not shy, CW student. Somehow I felt a special friendship with Dick, maybe he was a "gym aide" or maybe he just "hung out " at times in the gym area. Whatever his CW past, he was excellent at the reunion. What an amazing transformation. He truly merits his "Georgia Toastmaster of the Year Award".

Thanks again for a great evening and "God Bless" the members of the CW Class of 1963.

Fond regards,

Lee Whitaker

From Jo Lynn McNealy...

Hello Don,

Big thank you to you and the whole Reunion Committee for a wonderful reunion! I know this required an enormous amount of time & effort, and it was obviously very thoughtfully done. Wava's slide show of our deceased classmates was perfectly done. Dick McCoppin did a great job and added an extra fun spark to the evening. The photo booth was an amusing addition that we all loved. The class picture is unusual in that everyone's face is visible! Everyone I spoke with raved about how much fun the whole weekend was.

Hoping that you will pass along my thanks to the whole committee. Thanks again.

From Alyce Herman...

Don, This is for the entire reunion committee....I want to thank all of you, Bonnie, Jewel, Scott and Barb, Walt, Sam, Jim, Mike, Wava, Jo Anne, you and Linda for all of the work you did to make our 50th reunion unforgettable! Everyone had such a good time and you all were so creative in the planning. Everything was perfect from the beginning to the end. The favors are great and I love showing my husband and kids a picture of my high school. They have always tried to convince me I went to a military school because it was named for a Colonel! The highlight was being able to see old friends!

I had a wonderful evening thanks to all of you...

From Sharon Skolnik...

Dear reunion committee friends,

I can't thank you enough for putting together such a wonderful weekend! I only went to C.W. for 2 years, but considering the hugs, kisses and emotions of this past weekend, that doesn't seem possible! The three days of activities provided time to catch up with so many wonderful people. It truly couldn't have been more perfect. And, Bob Flagel, who has been to LOTS more reunions than we have, has told at least 1,100 people, including our kids, that it was the best reunion he's ever been to!

Love to you all from both of us.

From Karen Decker...

The reunion was just great. Thanks to you and the entire committee. The setting, food, decorations, speaker, everything. It was such fun to talk and laugh and reconnect with classmates I hadn't seen for years. It was nice just to know that for a few hours we were all bound together in the web of having spent four years together at Colonel White. I know it was hours and hours and hours in getting it all ready. Thank you. It was a really memorable weekend.

From Mike Waggoner...

I again want to thank the reunion committee for all their work on our behalf. It was a reunion to always remember. Seeing everyone brought back such great memories and many laughs. I had so much fun talking with each person. The idea of inviting the faculty and some of the people that graduated elsewhere was just great.

Wava’s presentation of our deceased classmates was really nice. It needed to be done and it was done very well. Dick McCoppin was a perfect toastmaster and I enjoyed his presentation. Barbara is the tireless leader of the group and she deserves a pat on the back and a big hug.

Thanks to the committee again for everything. A (Fairview) friend heard about Dick's presentation on Saturday night and asked if I knew how to reach him to talk about a presentation at their reunion. Don, do you have his e-mail that I could give her?

Thanks,

New Thank You Notes

Hi, Don,

Thanks so much for taking the time to organize and post all the info, pics, names, etc. from the 50th reunion. Got home late last night, saw your email, and stayed up even later clicking thru all the items in the links. That group photo with a key to names was so fun – guessing, then finding out who it really was. Must have taken you forever to do it. And the shots from the photo booth were terrific.

Sending your email to those of us who could not be there was a real gift. I had the warmest feeling of connection wash over me as I was clicking through all the photos.

Please pass along my thanks to the rest of the committee as well, for putting it all together. Looks like you all had a seriously good time.

Dear Don,

After reading all the thank-you notes, I realized how impolite I had been.

But I also had a great time. I appreciate the tremendous amount of time and energy went into the reunion.

Thanks a million.

Dear Don,

I did not write a thank you note as my mother taught me, but I had a GREAT time at the reunion. I did not think that it would be so much fun. After 50 years, who cares anymore. I overheard several conversations that started with "I had such a crush on you..." ! The committee did so much work--the green and gold centerpieces; the old time candy! the wonderful program and thank you for Frank Sinatra singing the same song on the website that was played while we remembered our dead classmates. I had tears in my eyes one more time. And thank YOU for doing so much for the web site and the cutout of Colonel White High School with the history on the back is proudly on my bookcase. Thank you so much. My husband and I just hosted Linda Grossman (one of the few Fairview Elementary classmates of mine) and her husband Roger Hohn (a CW upper classman) over the Florida State football weekend. It was great to reconnect with her and all this because of the reunion.

Well enough. Many thanks to you and the committee.

Hi Don,

Thanks so much for the Cassano's video – both Dave & I have great memories of those early days of pizza & going to their restaurants. We were really sorry to miss the reunion but our son & his wife were here from Switzerland during that time. We're looking forward to the reunion homepage & seeing some familiar faces. I'm sure it was a fun evening!
